Back Door of Gambling

A personal blog by Ryan Calloway

What the industry looks like from the other side

Former gambling industry professional · England · Writing honestly since stepping away

I spent several years working inside the online gambling industry. Not playing — working. I saw how platforms are built, how bonuses are structured, how players are tracked and categorised, and how marketing shapes what people believe about casinos.

My name is Ryan. I am 29, from England, and this blog is where I write about all of that.

I started it because I got tired of two things. The first was affiliate websites dressed up as honest reviews, written by people who have never been anywhere near a real gambling operation. The second was the constant noise — either casinos are brilliant entertainment or they are pure evil. Neither is true. The reality is quieter and more complicated than that.

I do not sell strategies. I do not promise anyone will win. I do not tell people to gamble or not to gamble. What I do is write about the things I noticed from the inside, in the plainest way I can.

What you will find here

This site covers how online casinos work behind the scenes. I write about bonus mechanics, player psychology, design choices, responsible gambling, and what most people never think about when they open a casino app. Some of it might surprise you. Some of it probably will not.

I have mixed feelings about the industry I left. Parts of it are well-run, genuinely entertaining, and properly regulated. Other parts are not. I try to be fair about both sides.

Who this blog is for

If you are curious about how online casinos actually operate, this is for you. If you want someone to tell you how to beat the house, this is not.

I write for people who like to understand how things work. That is it, really.

Gambling is for adults only (18+). This blog does not encourage gambling.
